Server Job Description

As a Server at Friendship Village, you will be part of a 5 STAR Food and Beverage Team at one of the Nation's Top Senior Living Communities. Our Servers provide exceptional table service to Residents in a vibrant and professional manner, always offering them the best service imaginable.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Set tables and maintain work stations in proper order.
  2. Take orders, provide service, and requested items both graciously and courteously.
  3. Clear dishes from tables during and after meal service.
  4. Answer pertinent questions about menu items.
  5. Prepare therapeutic desserts and salads, as required.
  6. Transport hot and cold foods to and from the Village Care Center, as needed.
  7. Transport all required non-food items to and from the Village Care Center, main dining room, and bistro, as needed.
  8. Maintain sanitation, hygiene, and safety standards.
Other Duties:
  1. Assist in maintaining a high level of customer service for our residents and their guests.
  2. Assist with dish washing and distribution of clean dishes if needed.
  3. Maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene and comply with department dress code.
  4. Complete all assigned cleaning tasks.
  5. Maintain station equipment and work area in safe and sanitary conditions.
  6. Attend in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
  7. Perform specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
  1. Ability to read, write, and speak English, perform simple arithmetic, and follow written or oral instructions in English.
  2. Experience waiting tables in a hotel, restaurant, or club with fine dining preferred, but not required. Will train on-the-job.
  3. Ability to interpret and explain the menu, refer or answer questions, coordinate the meal service process, and respond to requests.
  4. Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor, and peers. Requires courtesy, tact, and graciousness.
  5. Fundamental understanding of hospitality, customer service, table service techniques, personal hygiene, and appearance.
