Dishwasher and Kitchen Assistant Job Description

Purpose: To ensure the efficient operation of the commercial dishwasher and the cleanliness of all pots, pans, utensils, and to assist with other kitchen cleaning duties as directed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the dishwashing machine for operation on assigned shifts.
  • Wash all pots, pans, and utensils that have accumulated since the end of the previous dishwashing period.
  • Wash all pots, pans, utensils, and dishes used during assigned shifts.
  • Ensure all china, glassware, silverware, and equipment are returned to designated areas after cleaning.
  • Record wash and rinse water temperatures on the Dishwashing Temperature Log sheet at specified times.
  • Record notable food waste that occurs on assigned shifts, utilizing designated forms.
  • Complete reports of broken china, glassware, and equipment occurring on assigned shifts that are to be discarded.
  • Clean the dishwashing machine according to specified procedures at the end of shifts.

Kitchen Cleaning Responsibilities:

  • Dispose of all garbage from the kitchen and dish room into proper containers outside, throughout shifts as needed.
  • Break down and remove all cardboard from the kitchen and place it into designated recycle bins.
  • Mop the dish room and kitchen floors throughout shifts as needed.
  • Ensure the team member break room remains clean, removing used dishes, cleaning the cart, and disposing of garbage as needed throughout shifts.
  • Assist with other duties on daily, weekly, or monthly kitchen cleaning schedules as assigned.

Food Service Responsibilities:

  • Assist cooks and dining room personnel in preparation and delivery of room service trays.
  • Assist the Director of Signature Dining, Lead Cook, and Cook with food preparations as directed.
  • May assist in preparing carts for delivery.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend all required team member meetings and in-service training sessions.
  • Uphold Residents' Rights as defined by state regulations and by Company policy, at all times.
  • Support and uphold all other Company policies and the service philosophy.
  • Reliable and Predictable Attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Previous dishwashing experience in a restaurant or senior living setting preferred.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • A strong commitment to customer service and a desire to exceed customer expectations.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, write, and speak English to communicate effectively with residents, guests, and other team members.
  • Meet all health-related and/or food handling requirements pertaining to local or state regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain current CPR/First Aid credentials.
  • Maintain current Food Handlers credentials.
  • Maintain annual Continuing Education Credits.
  • Ability to perform duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Subject to pre-employment screening, including physical, drug, and TB testing, and criminal background check.
