Fairview Health Services is seeking a dedicated Lead Oncology Pharmacist to oversee pharmacy operations within our specialized cancer care environment. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with both state and federal pharmacy regulations while managing the operational aspects of our pharmacy.
The Lead Pharmacist will be responsible for the management of pharmacy services that cater to oncology and specialty infusion patients. This includes overseeing daily operations, strategic planning, budgeting, inventory management, and ensuring exceptional customer service.
As a leader, you will guide a skilled team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals including nurses and physicians. This position offers a dynamic work environment that fosters the development of both clinical and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all pharmacy operations to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
2. Participate in the budgeting process and implement site-specific financial plans.
3. Manage staffing levels to meet patient care needs effectively.
4. Maintain inventory control to ensure optimal stock levels.
5. Collaborate with regional management on strategic initiatives and quality assurance programs.
6. Act as a liaison between the pharmacy, community stakeholders, and other healthcare entities.
7. Supervise and mentor pharmacy staff, providing opportunities for professional growth.
8. Ensure the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care, including patient counseling and medication management.
Qualifications:
- Must be registered with the MN Board of Pharmacy.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a pharmacist in a complex healthcare setting is required, with a preference for at least 1 year in oncology.
- Knowledge of USP 797 standards is essential.
