Recreational Therapy Specialist

Reports To: Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator
Supervisory Roles: N/A
Position: Therapeutic Recreation Therapist (TRD)
Consideration will be given to qualified Therapeutic Recreation Assistants (TRA)
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Days
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties:
- Design and facilitate suitable group activities and individualized sessions aimed at improving sensory motor, cognitive, and psychosocial capabilities.
- Document resident/patient evaluations, progress reports, attendance records, and discharge summaries in accordance with State and Federal guidelines.
- Input MDS/care plan information and participate in RCP meetings.
- Assist in transporting residents to and from designated activity areas, ensuring the preparation of these spaces.
- Oversee the inventory of materials and supplies, promptly informing the Coordinator of any needs.
- Operate Mozaic Senior Life vehicles for outings as necessary; actively participate in various staff meetings and maintain consistent attendance.
- Exhibit leadership qualities, mentor residents, and foster engagement during recreational activities.
- Demonstrate the ability to facilitate group dynamics while addressing the interpersonal needs of residents.
- Assess and document the needs and progress of residents effectively.
- Participate in community outings for residents, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree and TRD Certification
Experience: No prior experience required
Licensure: Valid driver’s license
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines; effective reading and communication skills; proficiency in utilizing various software applications relevant to job responsibilities.
