Job Description

Southwest Traders, Inc is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Dispatcher to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for dispatching route delivery drivers, ensuring on-time freight movement, and efficient delivery of customer freight in accordance with DOT and all company regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Dispatch route delivery drivers to ensure on-time freight movement and efficient delivery of customer freight.
  • Coordinate pickup and delivery requests from customers and coordinate driver routes.
  • Provide support in overseeing equipment assignments in preparation for driver routes.
  • Assist in determining manpower required to staff routes efficiently while ensuring on-time service and that our customer's freight is delivered/picked-up in a timely manner.
  • Review daily performance reports to identify problem areas; monitor and analyze all opportunities to improve efficiencies.
  • Answer questions/concerns from drivers, including but not limited to, company policies and procedures, dispatch rules, driver's manual, safety and security procedures.
  • Monitor and input data into all applicable systems.
Requirements:
  • Some college required; Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
  • One or more years of LTL transportation industry experience.
  • Strong communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.).
  • Knowledge of LTL Industry, DOT Rules and Regulations, OSHA Laws and Hazardous Materials.
  • Able to work independently and take initiative without immediate local supervision.
  • Multi-tasked oriented and possess good organizational skills.
