Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at DUPAGE CO SCHOOL ASSC FOR SPEC ED dba SASED. The successful candidate will work closely with students with unique medical needs, providing essential support and care to ensure their health and safety in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development of individualized health plans and provide classroom staff inservice training on health-related topics.
  • Perform medical procedures, such as blood glucose monitoring, catheterizations, and gastrostomy tube care, under the supervision of the Certified School Nurse.
  • Monitor and assist students with daily routines, including activities of daily living, and document procedures and health status on a daily log.
  • Communicate changes in student health status to the Certified School Nurse and Teacher, and handle medical emergencies and classroom problems promptly and efficiently.
  • Provide instruction to students individually and in small groups, following the Teacher's lesson plans and with Teacher direction.
  • Accompany, assist, and monitor students as needed in all areas of the school program, including mainstream classes, community, vocational, and transportation.
  • Implement established classroom and individual behavior management plans, and provide medical care during student transportation as required.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and prior experience in a school setting is preferred.
