Overview: The Licensed Nutrition Specialist is responsible for providing expert nutritional assessments and guidance tailored to individual residents, aimed at both treating and preventing health issues. This role collaborates closely with the Dietary Department to uphold high nutritional standards and drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of residents' nutritional needs.
- Design and evaluate standard and therapeutic meal plans, considering food textures and liquid consistencies to cater to the unique requirements of residents.
- Create and implement educational programs focused on nutrition for all facility staff, ensuring a person-centered approach.
- Engage in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives related to food and nutrition services.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards set by local and state authorities.
- Identify residents at risk of malnutrition and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to devise appropriate interventions.
- Commit to ongoing professional development and maintain dietetic registration, fulfilling continuing education requirements as mandated by relevant authorities.
Work Environment: This position entails exposure to the demands of a 24-hour skilled care setting, primarily serving an aging population with disabilities and cognitive impairments.
