Our mission is to provide accessible, evidence-based treatment for opioid use disorder, aiming to restore lives, reunite families, and heal communities impacted by substance use disorders.
Role Summary: The Correctional Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) services to inmates under the guidance of Ideal Option providers and leadership. The following responsibilities are essential for this role:
- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments, health evaluations, and screenings, collecting necessary health histories for MAT.
- Evaluate inmates for suicide risk during intake and throughout their incarceration.
- Identify inmate health issues and refer to an Ideal Option provider as necessary.
- Confirm patient medications and administer as directed by the provider.
- Maintain accurate medication and supply levels, including documentation of pill counts, medication preparation, and dispensing in compliance with DEA standards.
- Order required medications and supplies as needed.
- Assist with MAT dosing and clinic operations.
- Plan for inmate discharge, ensuring knowledge of Ideal Option's office-based MAT treatment and referral processes.
- Document medical treatments and services provided, maintaining inmate medical records in the Electronic Health Record system.
- Support medical providers in clinic preparation and operations.
- Collaborate with corrections officers as necessary.
- Respond to emergencies and refer to higher levels of care when needed.
- Stay informed about all policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively as part of the Ideal Option team, fostering professional relationships with employees and external partners.
Remote Responsibilities: As part of the Ideal Option Nurse Care Team, the Correctional Nurse will perform the following duties remotely:
- Support patients during their initiation phase of medication for substance use disorders.
- Address medication-related inquiries regarding withdrawal, dosing techniques, and provider instructions.
- Ensure timely communication with providers regarding prescription issues, dosing inquiries, and abnormal lab results.
- Inform patients of any changes to their care plan.
- Facilitate communication between the call center, providers, prescription teams, and the nurse care team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Assist in overcoming barriers to care and addressing social needs by collaborating with the patient care team.
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding lab results, prescriptions, and general healthcare questions.
- Participate in after-hours nurse call rotations to address patient concerns as needed.

Qualifications:
- Active RN License (AA, RN; BSN preferred)
- Successful completion of corrections background screening
- Previous experience in MAT or corrections nursing is advantageous
