Job Title: DNA Forensic Scientist

Job Summary:

The New Mexico Department of Public Safety Forensic Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled DNA Forensic Scientist to join our team. As a DNA Forensic Scientist, you will be responsible for analyzing DNA evidence to help solve crimes and bring justice to victims and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform DNA analysis on evidence to identify individuals and link them to crimes
  • Develop and implement new DNA analysis techniques and methods
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to provide expert testimony and support investigations
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest DNA analysis technologies and techniques
  • Contribute to the development of new DNA analysis protocols and procedures

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as molecular biology, biochemistry, or genetics
  • 1 year of laboratory experience in DNA analysis
  • Strong understanding of DNA analysis principles and techniques
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment

Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a laboratory setting, with exposure to chemicals and biological fluids. You will also be required to travel statewide to provide expert testimony and support investigations.
