Job Summary:
The New Mexico Department of Public Safety Forensic Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled DNA Forensic Scientist to join our team. As a DNA Forensic Scientist, you will be responsible for analyzing DNA evidence to help solve crimes and bring justice to victims and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform DNA analysis on evidence to identify individuals and link them to crimes
- Develop and implement new DNA analysis techniques and methods
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to provide expert testimony and support investigations
- Stay up-to-date with the latest DNA analysis technologies and techniques
- Contribute to the development of new DNA analysis protocols and procedures
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as molecular biology, biochemistry, or genetics
- 1 year of laboratory experience in DNA analysis
- Strong understanding of DNA analysis principles and techniques
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment
Working Conditions:
This position requires working in a laboratory setting, with exposure to chemicals and biological fluids. You will also be required to travel statewide to provide expert testimony and support investigations.
