POSITION OVERVIEW
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for the independent planning, execution, and assessment of nursing care in various patient care scenarios, adhering to established standards of care, policies, and procedures. This role involves delivering direct nursing services to patients while also taking on educational and leadership roles. The nurse will actively engage in collaborative decision-making, participate in unit committees, and contribute to quality enhancement initiatives. Minimal supervision is required for this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Formulates a care plan that includes methods to achieve anticipated outcomes.
- Executes care interventions and medical plans as necessary.
- Coordinates the delivery of care effectively.
- Utilizes patient education to enhance health and safety.
- Assesses progress towards established outcomes.
- Practices with ethical considerations in mind.
- Maintains knowledge and skills that reflect contemporary nursing practices.
- Incorporates evidence-based research findings into nursing practice.
- Supports quality nursing practices and collaborative decision-making by participating in councils and implementing decisions.
- Communicates proficiently across all areas of nursing practice.
- Exhibits leadership qualities within the professional practice environment.
- Collaborates with patients, families, and the inter-professional team in nursing activities.
- Employs suitable resources to deliver nursing services that are safe, effective, and economically responsible.
- Practices in a manner that ensures environmental safety and health.
- Is accountable for fostering, participating in, and understanding the shared decision-making model within the healthcare framework.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required from recognized organizations.
- Newly practicing RNs will be enrolled in the RN Residency Program.
- Intermediate proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
