Job Overview

In the Army National Guard, effective communication is essential for operational success, and the role of the Signal Support Systems Specialist is crucial in maintaining this flow of information.

Key Responsibilities

Signal Support Systems Specialists are tasked with the integration of communication systems and networks, executing signal support operations, and performing maintenance on authorized signal equipment. Their duties include the installation, operation, and upkeep of radio and data distribution systems.

Advanced personnel in this role will also supervise and train fellow Soldiers, manage the installation of signal support systems and terminal devices, and provide technical support and training for automation and communication equipment. They will prepare maintenance and supply requests for unit-level signal support and conduct preventative maintenance checks on assigned vehicles.

Primary Duties Include:
  • Maintaining radio and data distribution systems
  • Providing signal support functions and technical assistance for computer systems
  • Offering technical support and training for local area networks
  • Conducting maintenance for equipment, terminal devices, assigned vehicles, and power generators

Skills Development

Through this position, you will acquire knowledge in:
  • Mechanical and electrical principles
  • Preventive maintenance procedures
  • Line installation and wiring techniques
  • Communication security policies and procedures

Desirable Skills

Candidates should possess an interest in working with electronic equipment and a passion for problem-solving.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria:
