Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Financial Operations Manager who will oversee property accounting functions, supervising Payroll, General Ledger Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable. The successful candidate will ensure these areas are equipped with adequate equipment, training, and support.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform external financial statement preparation, including quarterly, annual, and periodic reports filed with regulatory agencies.
  2. Perform accounting research as needed relative to new accounting standards and coordinate implementation efforts.
  3. Assist in the quarterly and annual external audits process.
  4. Support and promote internal control standards to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  5. Performs all functions in accordance with applicable gaming regulations and our company's policies and procedures.
  6. Fully responsible for all activities of the entire accounting staff, who are responsible for GL, AP, and Payroll.
  7. Responsible for month-end preparations and monthly financial statements and reports.
  8. Provides periodic cash flow and cash position analysis.
  9. Approves payroll runs.
  10. Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
  11. Responsible for all tax filings with regulatory agencies.
  12. Ensures adequate coverage for the Financial Accounting team; oversees the supervision of staff, including work allocation, scheduling, training, and problem resolution.
  13. Contributes to departmental effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues and goals, recommending courses of action, and implementing directives.
  14. Directs and controls all internal business activities for the Financial Accounting team.
  15. Ensures and maintains a system of internal controls for all departments and administrative controls as related to team members, policies, and procedures.
  16. On a monthly basis, reviews all expenditures, financial reports, and other information provided to department heads to ensure accuracy, including balance sheet and profit and loss reconciliations by account.
  17. On a monthly basis, participates in the month-end process of reviewing preliminary financial statements with department heads and resolves any unknown or unexplained items, acting as a liaison between accounting and department heads.
  18. Performs hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and performance evaluations of Accounting Manager, AP Manager, and Payroll Manager.
  19. Establishes goals and objectives for the Financial Accounting team.
  20. Ensures company expenditure disbursements comply with our company's policies and have been authorized and classified correctly.
  21. Liaisons with IT to resolve any system problems related to financial systems.
  22. Coordinates activities with external and internal auditors.
  23. Conducts internal audits of data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  24. Establishes, or recommends to management, major financial objectives and policies for the casino. Keeps leadership and other departments informed of the status of activities and significant events and problems by attending meetings, submitting reports, and meeting individually as necessary.
  25. Assists managers in developing, implementing, and monitoring individual budgets.
  26. Assists managers with understanding and analyzing the budgets, identifying operational implementations to improve efficiencies and outcomes.
  27. Improves staff effectiveness by coaching, counseling, training, and recommending disciplinary action for team members, and planning, delegating, monitoring, and appraising job tasks and results in a timely manner.
  28. Coordinates the technology needs of the office; ensures staff is fully trained on systems, policies, and procedures.
  29. Conducts annual department evaluation and assessments of department components and staff according to established policies, procedures, and regulations for the accounting team.
  30. Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  31. Attends and satisfactorily completes all required training as assigned and required.
  32. Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting or related field is required.
  • CPA/CMA designation or MBA would be a plus.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in finance/accounting with direct oversight of financial reporting to regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge and ability to interpret General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Previous gaming industry (Resort/Casino) accounting and supervision experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience with Infinium or related Accounting system preferable.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and knowledge of front-of-house casino operations as related to Revenue Audit.
  • Excellent communication skills, customer service, and team-oriented, self-starter, and professional maturity.
  • Strong organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills and exhibit composure and professionalism while under pressure.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting constant deadlines and maintaining strong attention to details.
  • A valid Nevada Gaming License is required and must be obtained prior to entering this position.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
