Role Summary

The Safety and Security Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining a secure atmosphere within our healthcare facilities. This position is responsible for safeguarding individuals and property, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and responding effectively to emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Monitor and patrol the premises to deter and detect signs of intrusion or other security breaches.
  2. Respond promptly to incidents, providing assistance in situations involving unruly individuals or emergencies.
  3. Conduct thorough investigations of security incidents and prepare detailed reports documenting findings.
  4. Maintain accurate logs of daily activities and ensure proper communication with team members during shifts.
  5. Implement de-escalation techniques and manage conflict in a professional manner.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least six months of experience in a security role within a healthcare environment or equivalent law enforcement/military background.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; or three years of relevant experience.
  • Possession of a valid security officer license with no disciplinary actions.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited provider within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Completion of IAHSS Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officers within the first 90 days.
