Control Department Electrical Assembler

JOB FUNCTIONS:
Conduct wiring and assembly tasks on a varied line of control systems and mechanical assemblies featuring moderately intricate circuits.

  • Design and organize work with deviations from standard procedures when necessary.
  • Install various types of controls and equipment.
Cut, shape, and connect wiring according to specifications, optimizing available space for superior craftsmanship and outcomes.

  • Tasks include testing components intended for application.
  • May assist with or execute testing procedures on units and finished assemblies.
  • Work from wiring diagrams, specifications, and job layouts; utilize a range of electrical testing and measuring devices.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Layout, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Procurement of specialized materials for assemblies as required.
  • Maintenance of the workshop area and equipment.
  • Testing of finished products.
  • Electrical wiring and related activities.
  • Forklift experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Welding, piping, and other mechanical skills are advantageous but not essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurate and complete assemblies in accordance with job design specifications.
  • Accountable for Quality Control, ensuring all assemblies meet company standards before shipment.
  • Ensure all documentation packets accompany shipments.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Update all marked assembly drawings prior to shipping.
  • Ensure all documentation and loose components are included with each shipment.
  • Keep precise records of all shop labor hours, including start times, breaks, and overtime.
  • Complete assemblies within the time allocated by the Production Manager.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of hours needed to fulfill work orders.
  • Participate in job meetings before manufacturing commences.

AUTHORITY:

  • Procures necessary components from internal inventory for production requirements.

REPORTING:
To Control Department Manager and

Production Manager:

  • Report production issues, including scheduling, personnel, design, and delivery.
  • Communicate staffing requirements to the Control Department Manager.
  • Notify deviations between actual hours worked and estimated hours for project completion.
  • Report discrepancies in drawings prior to shipment.
  • Document reasons for rework, including shop errors and engineering issues.
  • Report violations of company policies.
  • Address procedural challenges.

To Accounting:

  • Employee timesheets.
  • Shipping details, including weights, dimensions, and quantities.

STANDARDS:
Performance indicators that reflect the employee's effectiveness in their role include:

  • Delivering work with zero defects.
  • Completing orders in a timely manner and within budgeted hours.
  • Minimizing rework due to shop errors.
  • Exhibiting high efficiency in terms of errors, costs, accuracy, and proficiency.

OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION:

  • Produce quality control panel assemblies.
  • Ensure efficient job production.
  • Deliver superior workmanship to enhance customer satisfaction.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Requires skill, technique, and experience, along with a foundational knowledge of design and electrical principles.
  • Requires experience in production scheduling and planning.
  • Ability to verify the functionality of final assemblies in relation to customer process requirements.
  • Knowledgeable in the proper use of all shop tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Willingness to assist in non-electrical assembly tasks as needed.
  • A valid driver's license is required for operating a company vehicle.

Required Computer Software Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (particularly Word, Internet Explorer, and Excel).
  • Ability to download production images from a digital camera to the company server.
