Mobile Diesel Mechanic II

We are seeking a highly skilled Mobile Diesel Mechanic II to join our team at Cox Automotive. As a Mobile Diesel Mechanic II, you will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities- Perform Scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM) and DOT Inspections: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Diagnose and Repair Vehicle Issues: Use advanced diagnostic techniques to identify and repair problems with vehicle systems, including electrical, brake, cooling, and engine systems.
- Perform Minor Adjustments and Repairs: Make minor adjustments and repairs to vehicle equipment, including starters, alternators, fan clutches, and engine electronics.
- Inspect and Test Vehicle Systems: Inspect and test vehicle systems to identify malfunctions and ensure they are working properly.
- Road Test Vehicles: Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure they are working properly.
- Manage Parts Inventory and Equipment: Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company-issued service trucks and perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and Operate Company-Issued Service Vehicles: Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicles, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections of vehicles.
- Communicate with Clients and Customers: Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations.
- Manage Concurrent Tasks and Prioritize Work: Manage concurrent assigned tasks, making effective judgments as to prioritizing work-related activities and time allocations.
- Document Work Performed: Document work performed, parts used, and all findings observed on Repair Orders (RO) using company-issued iOS devices and our proprietary TRAIT application.
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 Years' Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience in a related field, or any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline, or 5 years of experience in a related field.
- Valid Driver's License and DOT Medical Card: Valid driver's license and valid DOT medical card or ability to obtain one prior to employment or within 72 hours of hire.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification: Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties and obtain ASE certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years or older.
- ASE T3 (Drivetrain) Certification: ASE T3 (Drivetrain) certification.
- ASE T4 (Brakes) Certification: ASE T4 (Brakes) certification.
- ASE T5 (Suspension) Certification: ASE T5 (Suspension) certification.
- ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) Certification: ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) certification.
- ASE 608/609 Certification: ASE 608/609 certification.
- Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Physical Abilities: Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time; ability to perform moderately heavy laboring work.
- Communication Skills: Communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner. Engages in effective two-way communication with individuals and groups.
- Tool Management: Ability to determine the type of tools and equipment needed.
- Visual Perception: Ability to accurately judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from the observer, or the distance between an object and the observer.
- Logical Reasoning: Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
