**Job Summary:**

At Uniform Gear Inc., we are seeking a skilled Seamstress to join our team. As a Seamstress, you will be responsible for altering, repairing, and fitting garments to meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fits garments on customers to determine required alterations.
  • Sews garments, using needles and thread or sewing machines.
  • Measures parts, such as sleeves or pant legs, and marks or pin-folds alteration lines.
  • Takes up or lets down hems to shorten or lengthen garment parts.
  • Lets out or takes in seams in suits and other garments to improve fit.
  • Removes stitches from garments to be altered, using rippers or razor blades.
  • Fits, alters, repairs, and makes made-to-measure clothing, according to customers' specifications and fit.
  • Makes garment style changes, such as tapering pant legs.
  • Repairs or replaces defective garment parts, such as pockets, zippers, snaps, buttons, and linings.
  • Estimate time frame of alteration.
  • Sewing on nametapes, patches, badge tabs, name tabs and other style patchwork.
  • Communicates with customers.
  • The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

Requirements:

  • Must work on site.
  • Must be able to sit for 2 hours at a time.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend written/verbal orders.
  • Must be able to communicate efficiently in English.
  • Must be capable of only taking one meal period per day.
  • Must be able to work between the hours of 9am-5pm Monday-Saturday.
