Located in Shelby, Atrium Health Cleveland is a 241-bed facility dedicated to serving the greater Cleveland County area and its surroundings. As the first Level III trauma center in North Carolina, we provide advanced emergency services and are committed to enhancing community health through education and support for local organizations.

Cleveland Progressive Care Units

Our Progressive Care Units consist of 64 beds, divided into two units, catering to patients with cardiac, medical, and surgical needs. The environment is dynamic and demands strong critical thinking, organizational skills, and thorough assessment capabilities. Nurses in this unit collaborate closely with cardiologists and hospitalists to manage complex care, including titratable cardiac medications and post-operative recovery.

Job Responsibilities

The RN Clinical Nurse I is responsible for delivering professional nursing care through comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in line with departmental policies and protocols under the guidance of nursing leadership. This role also involves maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring all job functions are performed safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather relevant data regarding the health status of patients or the situation at hand.
  • Analyze assessment data to identify actual or potential health issues.
  • Establish expected outcomes tailored to the individual patient or situation.
  • Formulate a care plan that outlines strategies to achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Execute the care plan, coordinating care delivery while promoting health and safety.
  • Delegate care tasks to appropriate healthcare personnel in accordance with legal and policy guidelines.
  • Assess progress towards achieving health goals and outcomes.
  • Practice in a manner that respects cultural diversity and inclusion.
  • Communicate effectively across all areas of nursing practice.
  • Collaborate with patients and other key stakeholders in nursing activities.
  • Demonstrate leadership within the professional setting and the nursing field.
  • Integrate evidence-based research into nursing practice.
  • Contribute to the advancement of quality nursing care.
  • Evaluate personal and peer nursing practices against professional standards and regulations.
  • Utilize appropriate resources to deliver safe, effective, and financially responsible nursing services.
  • Ensure practices are environmentally safe and healthy.
  • Uphold ethical standards in nursing practice.
  • Encourage shared governance and participate in decision-making processes to enhance clinical outcomes.

Physical Requirements
The role requires mobility, including walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling. Candidates must be able to lift and support weights of up to 35 pounds, handle patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Proficiency in English communication is essential, along with intact sensory functions and finger dexterity. Critical thinking and the ability to respond swiftly to changes in patient conditions are necessary. Physical abilities testing is required.

Education and Qualifications
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing program, with a BSN preferred. Current Basic Life Support certification is required, along with a valid RN license or temporary license in the state of practice. For those in National License Compact states, compliance with home state licensure requirements is necessary.
