Payroll Specialist with Expertise in Timekeeping and Tax Compliance

Job Summary:
Trinity Health is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join its Payroll Shared Services team. This role will support day-to-day payroll activities for assigned ministries or service lines, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of employee payroll processing, timekeeping, and employee information management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support centralized management of the payroll tax function, completing payroll tax reports and performing audits to ensure data is balanced appropriately.
- Know and understand federal and state wage and hour laws and their applicability to the assigned ministry or service line.
- Assist with quarter-end and year-end payroll activities (W-2/W-2cs) to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Run Kronos/Dimensions timekeeping reports and Workday Payroll reports to perform pay period audits.
- Act as a backup to Payroll Coordinator for balancing Kronos/Dimensions timekeeping file information and preparing EIBs for biweekly processing.
- Maintain confidentiality of all payroll and human resources information.
Requirements:
- Associates degree in accounting or human resources, or one to three years of equivalent experience in payroll.
- Experience in a multi-entity and multi-state organization handling payroll and payroll processes, payroll tax and state reciprocity rules, garnishments, payroll-related regulatory compliance, including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
- Familiarity with internal controls as related to the payroll function.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles. Overtime may be required during peak periods.
Compensation:
The estimated salary for this role is $26.37 per hour, based on industry standards and the level of experience required.
