Payroll Specialist with Expertise in Timekeeping and Tax Compliance

Job Summary:

Trinity Health is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join its Payroll Shared Services team. This role will support day-to-day payroll activities for assigned ministries or service lines, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of employee payroll processing, timekeeping, and employee information management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support centralized management of the payroll tax function, completing payroll tax reports and performing audits to ensure data is balanced appropriately.
  2. Know and understand federal and state wage and hour laws and their applicability to the assigned ministry or service line.
  3. Assist with quarter-end and year-end payroll activities (W-2/W-2cs) to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  4. Run Kronos/Dimensions timekeeping reports and Workday Payroll reports to perform pay period audits.
  5. Act as a backup to Payroll Coordinator for balancing Kronos/Dimensions timekeeping file information and preparing EIBs for biweekly processing.
  6. Maintain confidentiality of all payroll and human resources information.

Requirements:

  • Associates degree in accounting or human resources, or one to three years of equivalent experience in payroll.
  • Experience in a multi-entity and multi-state organization handling payroll and payroll processes, payroll tax and state reciprocity rules, garnishments, payroll-related regulatory compliance, including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • Familiarity with internal controls as related to the payroll function.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Working Conditions:

Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles. Overtime may be required during peak periods.

Compensation:

The estimated salary for this role is $26.37 per hour, based on industry standards and the level of experience required.
