Job Title: School Licensed Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate School Licensed Nurse to join our team at Aveanna Healthcare. As a School Licensed Nurse, you will provide direct school nursing services to promote prevention, medical management, and academics.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining standards of nursing while providing care under the supervision of a registered nurse. This includes performing treatments and/or procedures with skill and competence, maintaining and following physician orders, and administering medication as per MD order and/or parental consent.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain standards of nursing while providing care under the supervision of a registered nurse
  • Perform treatments and/or procedures with skill and competence
  • Maintain and follow physician orders for any invasive procedure and/or skill
  • Administer medication as per MD order and/or parental consent
  • Attend Health Plan meetings and school conferences when applicable
  • Assist with the plan of care under the direction of a physician, registered nurse, school designee, and/or parent
  • Attend appropriate continuing education programs as per licensure requirements
  • Participate in Aveanna in-servicing and training as offered
  • Exhibit behavior supporting and promoting student's rights and overall wellbeing
  • Follow Aveanna and school board policies and procedures
  • Report any changes in the student's mental, physical, or environmental condition
  • Recognize and report signs of substance abuse, physical abuse, or neglect
  • Provide a clean and safe environment within the school
  • Identify appropriate methods for storage of equipment, supplies, and medications
  • Provide individual teaching and training with student and/or others
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and supervise services with others
  • Accurately document services provided in accordance with agency policies and procedures
  • Submit nursing documentation, logs, reports, and timesheets according to company guidelines
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
  • Current, unrestricted state license as a Licensed Nurse in the state of practice
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures
Additional Requirements:
  • Continuing Education as required by state
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English
  • Must be able to travel
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance
  • Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting
  • Must be able to sit and climb stairs
  • Must have visual and hearing acuity
  • Must have a strong sense of smell and touch
Environment:
  • Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments
  • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases
