Shepherd Center, a leading private, not-for-profit hospital, is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team. Our mission is to provide exceptional medical treatment, research, and rehabilitation for individuals with spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, spine, and chronic pain, as well as other neuromuscular conditions.

As an Occupational Therapist at Shepherd Center, you will be responsible for assessing and treating patients with a range of abilities, from adolescents to geriatrics. You will work collaboratively with patients and their families to develop and implement comprehensive treatment programs, upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement treatment programs to enhance patients' functional skills, with regular reassessment and adaptation.
  • Effective communication and team collaboration to ensure seamless care.
  • Professional behaviors and expectations, including maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Helping patients regain or maintain daily activities, with a focus on independence and dignity.
  • Planning and delivering patient and family training to ensure proper care.
  • Making recommendations for specialty services or consultations as needed.
  • Using evaluation findings to determine discharge planning needs.
  • Participating in intra-departmental staff meetings and committee assignments.
  • Teaching and supervising students, as well as participating in research projects.
  • Completing required documentation and providing skilled interventions as outlined by AOTA.

Requirements:

  • A degree from an accredited program in occupational therapy.
  • BLS certification and licensure to practice in the state of Georgia.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to obtain, interpret, and disseminate information on age-specific patient needs.
  • Competency in time management, organization, prioritization, and critical thinking.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing work demands and environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of recent clinical experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal patient care environment with potential exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Some potential exposure to infectious viruses.
  • May include exposure to community.
