The Child and Youth Care Specialist is responsible for providing direct care and supervision to unaccompanied children and youth in a 24-hour shelter setting. This role involves facilitating a range of services, including program orientation, safe transportation, intake services, and vocational, recreational, and structured leisure activities. The Specialist must ensure that services comply with relevant licensing rules and policies, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the children and youth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care and supervision to children and youth in a shelter setting
  • Facilitate program orientation, safe transportation, and intake services
  • Assist with vocational, recreational, and structured leisure activities
  • Ensure compliance with licensing rules and policies
  • Enforce and adhere to Zero Tolerance Policy regarding abuse and neglect

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of experience working with youth
  • Experience working in a shelter setting is preferred
  • Valid Driver's License
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to type and use a tablet/iPad, laptop, or desktop

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children and youth in a shelter setting
  • Leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively with multiple team members
  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks

Additional Requirements:

  • Proof of COVID Vaccinations and other immunizations
