About the Role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Transportation Business Line in Arlington, VA. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a variety of exciting, highly-visible design/build projects as well as regional design/build projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design efforts for pursuits and projects, ensuring compliance with contract guidelines and design documents.
  • Interface with contractor clients through the progression of design deliverables.
  • Coordinate structural engineering technical aspects of pursuits and projects with other disciplines.
  • Ensure the structural design is completed in accordance with the contract guidelines and design documents.
  • Comply with company safety awareness program and policies.
  • Assure conformance with contractual obligations by ensuring that design documents are reviewed and approved prior to release to the client.
  • Train, mentor, and develop lower-level staff.
  • Ensure that QA/QC procedures are being implemented and ensure the technical quality of deliverables.
  • Lead responses to clients' comments on structural design elements of the deliverables.
  • Incorporate innovation in design and delivery.
  • Serve as a technical advisor for the team and provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective work by others.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
  • Prepare technical specification sections.
  • Provide input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a similar field, plus 4 years of relevant design experience in bridge engineering, design, and analysis, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and be willing to obtain reciprocity in the jurisdiction of the projects.
  • Valid Driver's License and as a condition of employment, pass AECOM's motor vehicle records review.
