Sushi Chef

The Sushi Chef is a key member of our in-store fresh sushi program, responsible for producing high-quality sushi for our customers. This role requires excellent communication skills, as you will interact with customers during production and through frequent sampling.

1. Acknowledge, greet, and engage all guests in a friendly and welcoming manner.
2. Prepare various finfish, shellfish, and fresh produce items for use in sushi production.
3. Prepare, test, and maintain food safety records for sushi rice.
4. Assemble, package, and label various forms of sushi, sides, and spring rolls for sale to customers.
5. Assemble custom sushi rolls at the request of customers.
6. Train and assist other associates as needed.
7. Complete compliance of all Food City policies and procedures, as well as Federal, State, and Local government Food Safety Standards.
8. Constantly inspect and maintain the highest standards in product quality.
9. Monitor temperatures and shelf lives of all ingredients and retail packages.
10. Keep workstations and areas neat and clean at all times.
11. Complete knowledge of sushi menu and all ingredients.
12. Actively market Food City Sushi Program following a regular sampling schedule.
13. Assist in ordering all supplies to achieve a minimum inventory, while avoiding out-of-product conditions.
14. Assist with maintaining proper communication with customers and the Meat Department Manager.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to meet standard Physical, Mental, and Visual demands.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks, and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals on a daily basis.
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies.
