This is an exciting opportunity to join the VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION team as a Housekeeping Aid. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our patient care areas.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a range of housekeeping activities, including floor maintenance, wall washing, and cleaning of doors, doorframes, and stairwells.
- Clean and maintain patient care areas, including restrooms, bathrooms, and shower rooms, to ensure they meet acceptable standards.
- Operate heavy industrial powered and battery-operated equipment, such as pressure washers and vacuum cleaners, to clean and maintain facilities.
- Transport general refuse, regulated medical waste, and recycling to central collection areas.
- Replenish supplies of paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizers, and soap in all areas where dispensers are located.
- You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- You may be required to serve a probationary period.
- Subject to background/security investigation.
- Pre-employment physical required.
- Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP).
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position.
Working ConditionsThe position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment weighing over 50 pounds.
