As a skilled Boring Mill Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating machine shop equipment to manufacture or repair metal parts and equipment. Your attention to detail and ability to work accurately will be crucial in ensuring the quality of our products.
Key Responsibilities
• Obeys all safety rules and performs housekeeping assignments to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Performs CNC programming of mill to optimize production efficiency.
• Reads and interprets prints to make necessary mathematical calculations for laying out stock or repairing damaged parts.
• Sets up and operates large boring mills, lathes, universal mills, and drill press to manufacture or repair metal parts and equipment.
• Uses hoist to position work pieces and correctly aligns and fastens work pieces to the machine.
• Uses precision measuring and layout tools to determine machining methods and work processes.
• Observes work pieces and verifies conformance to specifications and prints.
• Maintains machine tooling and jigs in an orderly fashion and requisitions parts and supplies as needed.
• Re-grinds and sharpens tools as needed to ensure optimal performance.
• Performs routine maintenance and repair on machine shop equipment to prevent downtime and ensure efficiency.
• When required, spot welds to complete tasks.
• Cross-inspects work of others to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Tools and Equipment: Horizontal boring mills, lathes, drill press, welding equipment, grinders, saws, hoists, micrometers, dial indicators, layout tools, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Machine Tech degree or certificate
• Minimum of two years machine shop work experience
• Experience in turning, boring, facing, and thread cutting
• Basic tools or willingness to purchase
• Ability to work any shift, work overtime, and work weekends
