Position Overview

Work Schedule

This position requires a commitment of 16 hours per week, including evenings and weekends. Please note that schedules may vary based on the library's operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance of a Page supervisor, the Library Page will:
  • Exhibit a friendly and courteous demeanor while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Organize and shelve books, CDs, DVDs, and other library materials in a systematic manner.
  • Assist patrons with inquiries, guiding them to the appropriate resources or personnel.
  • Support patrons with basic technology, including computers and audio/visual equipment.
  • Prepare library materials requested by patrons.
  • Help staff in checking materials for damage and removing them from circulation.
  • Assist in setting up spaces for events and programs.
  • Perform additional related tasks as required.
Qualifications

Education and Certifications
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited institution.
  • Possession of a valid employment certificate for minors under 18, as mandated by state law.
Experience
  • Preferred experience in troubleshooting basic computer and printer issues.
  • Familiarity with eReaders and library technologies is advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate in foreign languages is a plus.
Skills
  • Proficient in sorting and arranging items in alphanumeric order.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with the capacity to engage with a diverse audience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Demonstrated reliability and professionalism.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications.
Work Environment

This role is situated within a public service library setting.

Physical Requirements
  • Moderate lifting (up to 25 lbs) is required.
  • Ability to push book trucks.
