Job Description:

As a Meat Specialist at Whole Foods Market, you will be responsible for performing duties related to the cutting, preparation, display, and selling of meat products. This includes tasks such as cutting, plattering, and merchandising products, as well as preparing specialty meat merchandise and checking product quality.

  • Cut, prepare, and display meat products according to company standards.
  • Prepare specialty meat merchandise, such as sausage and cured meats.
  • Check product quality to ensure it meets WFM standards.
  • Maintain sampling program and monitor product spoilage.
  • Mentor and support assigned Meat Cutter Trainee(s).
  • Arrive on time, groomed and dressed, and work all scheduled shifts.
  • Provide excellent customer service and model suggestive selling techniques.
  • Maximize sales potential through effective procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
  • FOLLOW established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment and equipment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Working knowledge of meat team processes and procedures.
  • Excellent cutting skills with ability to cut product down into sub-primal and retail cuts.
  • Extensive knowledge of different cuts and cooking techniques of meat and seafood.
  • Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions.
