Job Title: Automotive Surveyor

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Automotive Surveyor to join our team at Auto Warehousing Company in Portland, Oregon.

Job Summary:

The Automotive Surveyor is responsible for conducting thorough damage inspections on vehicles to ensure they meet customer specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily damage inspections on vehicles to identify any damage or defects
  • Compile and forward all records on a daily basis to designated parties
  • Ensure all paperwork is accurate and complete associated with vehicles
  • Follow all safety guidelines and attend safety meetings
  • Keep leads, managers, and others informed of significant issues
  • Log processed work into computer programs or tracking systems as required
  • Meet or exceed established production and quality standards
  • Perform daily activities on customer and AWC computer systems
  • Perform proper procedures to comply with customer specifications
  • Survey for damage as required by the customer
  • Visually verify that vehicles are damage-free
  • Work as part of a team
  • Ability to react to change and handle other essential tasks as assigned
  • Assist with special projects
  • Daily clean-up
  • Notify supervisor of any workplace hazards or unsafe conditions
  • Participate in facility safety efforts by attending monthly safety meetings, reporting accidents and injuries on appropriate forms, and communicating procedures to all appropriate customers/vendors and AWC personnel
  • Read and understand VIN numbers, repair orders, purchase orders, purge sheets, and other documents to complete work
  • Understand policies, including but not limited to company safety policies
  • Upkeep and maintenance of work area
  • Work with limited supervision
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Ability to adhere to strict production and quality standards without variance
  • Ability to communicate diplomatically
  • Ability to function effectively under pressure
  • Ability to interact with others effectively; work as a team; good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to judge distances
  • Ability to keep confidential any work documents seen or conversations heard during performance of job duties
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to pass Safe Driving quiz with 80% or better
  • Ability to read and match numbers quickly and accurately
  • Ability to read and understand SDS
  • Ability to read labels and routing stickers
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work at a height approximately 15 feet above the ground
  • Ability to work in and with all departments
  • Able to drive both standard and automatic automobiles
Minimum Requirements:
  • 12th grade reading and writing skills
  • Computer skills
  • Follow directions, both written and verbal
  • General knowledge of facility layout and customer requirements
  • Good visual ability and auditory ability
  • Knowledge of the use of hand tools (i.e., wrenches, screwdrivers, ratchets, etc.)
  • Must have a good sense of balance
  • Positively represent AWC
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Understand Company and Customer requirements
  • Valid driver's license
