Physician Advisor

Covenant HealthCare is seeking a highly skilled Physician Advisor to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will have the chance to make a real impact on patient care.

The Physician Advisor acts as a liaison between physicians, Utilization Management (UM) and Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI), revenue cycle and hospital administration. They provide guidance on best practices, remain current on payer rules, CMS regulations, and hospital contractual relationships.

• Maintain denial queues for optimal reimbursement.
• Conduct peer-to-peer conversations with Medicare advantage, Medicaid health plans, and commercial payers to ensure accurate coverage decisions.
• Review cases in observation status for medical necessity and accuracy.
• Assist with CDI/UM education and manager duties to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Engage in a collaborative work environment to drive positive change.

To be successful in this role, you must have a graduate degree from an accredited medical school, a current State of Michigan medical license, completion of a specialty residency, and at least 3 years of experience in a hospital-based practice setting.

• Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and build rapport with medical staff and hospital leadership.
• Task-switching and prioritization skills to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
• Strong computer skills to efficiently complete tasks and reports.
