We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team at the Department of Veterans Affairs. As a Physician Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations to diagnose and treat patients.
- Provide and coordinate medical care for assigned patients, including establishing diagnoses, formulating and implementing care plans, and providing follow-up care.
- Evaluate outpatients to determine the need for further health care and order diagnostic testing results and therapeutic modalities.
- Order ancillary services, including pharmacy, social services, physical medicine and rehabilitation therapies, prosthetic services, etc.
- Order or prescribe devices, supplies, and durable medical equipment, as well as medications for patients under their care.
- Admit and discharge patients in consultation with, and on behalf of, the attending physician.
- Obtain and document informed consent for treatments and procedures for which the Physician Assistant is responsible.
- Provide education and counsel patients and families in preventive care, medical conditions, and the use of prescribed treatments and drugs.
- Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Education: Graduate of a training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of PA (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor organizations.
- Certification: Must have successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE).
- Licensure: Must possess an active, current, full, and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
The selected candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment and must be able to lift up to 44 lbs., carry objects up to 15 lbs., and stand for long periods of time.
