We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Schweiger Dermatology Group. As a Registered Nurse - Allergy, you will provide exceptional patient care and education in our allergy department.
Responsibilities:- Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere to enhance quality of service and care offered to patients and providers.
- Provide general care and education to patients in accordance with OSHA regulations.
- Administer prescribed testing, medications, and treatments, including skin prick testing and intradermal testing.
- Maintain immunotherapy room with necessary supplies and materials, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
- Administer allergy shots and ensure provider is on site.
- Observe, record, and report patients' vitals and reactions to treatments.
- Assess patients' needs and suggest solutions to patient care problems.
- Supervise triaging of patient communications through email and/or portal.
- Maintain accurate patient records, documenting all visits in EMR.
- Assure patient stays for required observation time after injections.
- Learn and perform immunotherapy vial mixing procedures and proper documentation in accordance with current regulations.
- React appropriately in patient reaction situations, informing physician and/or other clinical staff as necessary to mitigate adverse reactions.
- Assist provider in recording prescribed treatments, medications, lab requisitions, prescriptions, prior authorization, and procedures within established guidelines.
- Understand provider to patient flow and anticipate provider's next steps to the best of their ability.
- Demonstrate clinical competence and sound knowledge base in provision of quality patient care.
- Ensure allergy test sets and emergency kits are filled, current, and up to date.
- Confirm that insurance benefits have been verified prior to preparation of allergy serums.
- Serve as a role model and consultant to staff.
- Regularly interact with physicians and other providers and staff to identify and resolve problems.
- Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related materials, and by attending seminars and conferences as needed.
- Report improperly operating medical equipment and instruments to supervisor.
- Perform inventory responsibilities, including ordering and stocking of supplies and equipment as requested.
- Attend all in-house training and continued education opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor on an as needed basis.
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience.
- Allergy experience strongly preferred.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing required.
- Pass the NCLEX-RN or state-approved comparison.
- Active Registered Nurse license in appropriate state.
- Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems.
- Must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Excellent patient relations and customer services skills.
- Open availability to work during weekdays.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA compliance.
