Job Opportunity

Direct Counsel, LLC is seeking an attorney to join its national management-side labor and employment practice in New York, NY. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in complex legal matters related to labor and employment law, with a focus on accessibility and disability accommodation laws/regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong understanding of accessibility and disability accommodation laws/regulations, including Titles I, II, and III of the ADA, the Rehabilitation Act, and equivalent state/local laws.
  • Handle litigations, regulatory (DOJ) investigations, advocacy group interactions, and work involving compliance counseling, policies, and training.
  • Possess experience with Title III of the ADA and accessibility auditing/management for both physical and digital entities.
  • Provide general employment litigation support, including knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
  • Handle various aspects of litigation such as interviewing witnesses, reviewing electronically stored documents, drafting pleadings and various motions and briefs, conducting and defending depositions, interacting with clients and opposing counsel, and attending court appearances.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three full years of experience in labor and employment law
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in New York (state and federal courts) is mandatory.
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in accessibility and disability accommodation laws/regulations, including Title III of the ADA.
  • Familiarity with public accommodation accessibility issues for both brick-and-mortar and digital entities.
  • Experience with accessibility auditing and/or managing outside auditors is a bonus.

Benefits

  • The expected salary range for this position is $205,000 - $290,000. Salary offers are based on a variety of factors including skills, training, experience, education, and relevant licensure or certification. In addition to the competitive base salary, the firm offers a generous employee benefits package and eligibility for a discretionary bonus.
