We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Care Specialist to join our Orthopedic Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care during night shifts.
The successful candidate will have the ability to implement physician orders, administer medications, and assess patient needs while collaborating with the nursing team to establish effective care plans.
Key Responsibilities- Implementing physician orders, administering medications, starting IVs, performing treatments, procedures, and special tests, and documenting treatment as required by company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations.
- Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions.
- Assessing and evaluating patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered.
- Applying sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
- Providing primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Administering over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.
- Collaborating with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
- Directing and guiding ancillary personnel and maintaining standards of professional nursing.
- A graduate of a professional academic nursing program with a Diploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree conferred.
- Holding a current NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Maintaining certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- A minimum of 1-3 years of previous clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care.
- Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Possessing knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques and demonstrating the ability to apply in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement.
