Critical Care Veterinary Technician Assistant

In this role, you will be an integral part of the Critical Care team at Ethos Veterinary Health, providing exceptional patient care and support to all departments, doctors, and hospital team members.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Exemplify a positive, supportive culture within the department and hospital.
  • Possess well-developed client communication skills and maintain current understanding of hospitalized caseload to assist with owner updates and communications.
  • Foster relationships with referring veterinarians to promote seamless transfer of Critical Care patients to the hospital.
  • General Cleaning/Stocking, Greeting of owners and patients, Taking initial history, Presenting estimates, Submission of diagnostics, Compile new patients referring medical records and imaging, Under guidance of nurse able to set up basic procedures, Compile medications and discharges prior to patient discharge, Performing owner call backs of discharged patients and documenting, Able to set up basic procedures without nurse guidance and showing initiative to set up more advanced procedures with direct oversight, Able to review discharges with owner under nurse supervision.
  • Critical Care Patient Care Responsibilities:
    • Perform a comprehensive physical examination with guidance from technician.
    • Practice proper and safe patient restraint.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology.
  • Experience in an Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Practice preferred.
  • Ability to communicate well with other CASE staff members.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and produce quality work while making effective decisions.
