Border States Paving, Inc., a prominent regional paving enterprise, is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Maintenance Technician to manage various aspects of our Asphalt Plants. This role involves diagnosing and resolving electrical issues, as well as maintaining and refurbishing electrical systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Develops detailed work plans by assessing replacement requirements or new materials needed, and formulates a systematic approach to address issues.
- Interprets electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to install, maintain, calibrate, and repair electronic devices and systems.
- Receives technical documentation and directives from supervisors regarding urgent and routine maintenance, installation, and electrical inspection tasks.
- Executes tasks that necessitate a comprehensive understanding of electrical principles, legal standards, material properties, and the operational characteristics of electrical machinery. Initiates and concludes equipment operations in accordance with established safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Conducts maintenance on electronic systems by inspecting, testing, and replacing defective components, circuits, and circuit boards.
- Installs, repairs, and maintains communication and power distribution cables, including necessary splicing.
- Possesses familiarity and experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Demonstrates experience with High Voltage systems (480 volts) as a requirement.
- Fabricates components when commercially unavailable, utilizing standard tools and machinery relevant to the trade.
- Identifies, analyzes, and implements necessary adjustments, repairs, and refurbishments.
- Informs operators and mechanics about potential electrical hazards and associated risks.
- Alerts supervisors regarding any hazardous electrical equipment identified and the corrective measures taken.
- Experience with asphalt plants or control systems is advantageous.
- Must successfully pass a drug screening. Flexibility in working hours and occasional travel during the summer is required.
The salary for this position is competitive, reaching up to $35.35 per hour (based on experience), along with an additional $16.32 per hour towards pension and medical benefits.
