Job Responsibilities and Duties

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Key responsibilities include:

  • Greeting and registering new plasma donors into the donor management computer system.
  • Conducting screening procedures to include taking blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, and arm checks.
  • Performing finger sticks to test donors for hematocrit testing and total protein testing utilizing screening equipment.
  • Determining donor eligibility by performing donor eligibility assessments, to include medical history interview, physical examination, educating donor on donor testing, HIV/AIDS virus, donation risks, informed consent, confidential self-exclusion, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) testing as necessary.
  • Providing counseling to donors regarding unacceptable test results.
  • Initiating and assisting in donor investigations regarding Post Donation Information.
  • Evaluating and attending to donor adverse events during the donation process.
  • Following all standard operating procedures for all medical emergencies, including communication with the Center Medical Director and donor transport to emergency medical care facilities.
Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience preferred.
  • An active license or certification in the state where performing duties: Registered Nurse (RN) Only.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
Physical Requirements

This role requires:

  • Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Frequent leaning, bending, stooping, crouching, and reaching above the shoulders and below the knee.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods for up to four hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift, tug, and pull up to fifty pounds.
Work Environment

This role will be performed in a typical work environment with moderate noise level. You may be exposed to freezing temperatures for short periods of time and occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
