The Orthopedic Trauma Registered Nurse is pivotal in fostering a secure patient environment and enhancing patient experiences through evidence-based practices and compassionate care. This role involves delivering and coordinating patient-centered services throughout the healthcare continuum, ensuring smooth transitions for patients to other care systems or their home settings.
Unit Overview:
Our unit comprises 35 beds and specializes in Trauma, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, and General Surgery. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional care within a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. Many of our nursing professionals find a long-term home in this unit, benefiting from a nurturing environment ideal for skill development in a dynamic setting. Opportunities for growth include critical thinking, advanced assessment techniques, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program with a valid Illinois RN license.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.
- Experienced RN: Minimum of 1 year of current nursing experience in a medical/surgical or telemetry unit.
- New Graduate RN: Must possess an Illinois nursing license or have an official pass letter allowing practice under supervision for a specified period.
- Current AHA CPR certification.
- Willingness to work weekends and holidays.
- Ability to manage exposure to potentially hazardous conditions while providing care.
- Capability to assist in patient evacuation during emergencies.
- Experience working with infectious specimens and patients.
- Timely response to patient needs and accessibility across the unit.
- Physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently; heavier lifts require teamwork and appropriate equipment.
