Job Summary

The Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration is seeking a highly skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team in the Cytology Department. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and carrying out functions for the cytology area, including preparing and examining cytologic specimens under the microscope.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement quality control programs to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Collaborate with other laboratory professionals to ensure seamless workflow and efficient operations.
  • Conduct microscopic evaluations of cytologic specimens to detect abnormal cells and develop differential diagnoses.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies in cytotechnology and implement new procedures and equipment as needed.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to junior staff members.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university and a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs accredited cytotechnology program.
  • Must be certified as a Cytotechnologist (CT) or Specialist in Cytotechnology (SCT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Telework is not available for this position. This is not a virtual position.
