Job Overview:

MEI is seeking a skilled Substation Project Manager to play a vital role within our design team. This position involves overseeing multiple substation projects and coordinating with utility companies. The projects managed will encompass substations featuring high and medium voltage electrical distribution for various data center campuses with an overall capacity exceeding 1000MW. This role requires close collaboration with MEI personnel, clients, utility providers, vendors, and external disciplines, ensuring effective communication among all parties to facilitate successful project completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison for key stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, managing design timelines, addressing concerns, and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Support clients, design teams, and construction teams throughout all phases of the project, including new construction and upgrades.
  • Assist in the design process by reviewing and understanding client design specifications, ensuring all requirements are thoroughly discussed and met.
  • Coordinate and lead regular project meetings, including status updates and stakeholder discussions, ensuring effective communication and documentation of outcomes.
  • Help develop and maintain project plans and schedules, monitor project progress, and ensure adherence to established timelines.
  • Identify and escalate project risks and issues, proactively addressing challenges that may arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with a cross-disciplinary design team, owners, and contractors to produce drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, internal design teams, and manufacturers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of project management experience, preferably in Substation Engineering Design for Data Centers.
  • Proven ability to lead meetings effectively, ensuring clear communication and documentation of discussions and decisions.
  • Experience working independently, managing priorities, and mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to demonstrate flexibility to achieve long-term objectives.
  • Self-motivated, comfortable with ambiguity, and driven to work collaboratively and lead others.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, BIM, and Revit.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid P.E. License.
  • Valid PMP Certification.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with high/medium voltage power distribution, physical design, and transmission line design is preferred.
