Job Summary

This role provides direct clinical patient care in a fast-paced Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) environment. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating direct clinical care to assigned patients on a per shift basis. The role will also supervise staff to ensure appropriate care is delegated and provide support to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to ensure high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, safe, and cost-effective total nursing care to all patients in the PICU.
  • Assume responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process.
  • Direct care according to established standards of safety, risk management, quality improvement, and infection control.
  • Administer medications safely and in a timely manner per hospital policy.
  • Perform and fulfill all Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency and/or disaster.
  • Responsible for knowing the Hospital's emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each, and adhering to the Hospital policies and procedures for each emergency code.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Preferred: Recent acute care experience.
  • Required: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy.
  • Required: BLS - At hire or obtain within 5 working days before assuming patient care (2 yr renewal).
  • Required: PALS - At hire or obtain within 60 days of hire/transfer (2 yr renewal).
  • Required: ENPC - At hire or obtain within 18 months of hire/transfer (4 yr renewal).
