Houseperson Job Description

Job Summary:

The Houseperson is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of guest rooms, hallways, and common areas. This role requires attention to detail, strong work ethic, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strip and clean guest rooms, including changing bed linens and emptying trash
  • Clean hallways, corridors, elevators, stairways, ice rooms, trash areas, and linen closets
  • Operate vacuum cleaners, dusting furniture, and polishing metalwork
  • Wash walls, ceilings, and woodwork, and wash windows, door panels, and sills
  • Transport trash and waste to the disposal area, and stock and deliver supplies
  • Replace light bulbs, and abide by regulations set forth by material safety data sheets when using chemicals
  • Report to work for scheduled shifts, on time and in uniform, in accordance with company policy
  • Know and comply with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties
  • Take the initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills required
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Customer service skills, prioritization, and time management skills required
  • Strong attention to detail
