Yard Operator

As a Yard Operator at Nucor Corporation, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our recycling yard. This is a dynamic and fast-paced environment where you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including general labor duties, operating heavy equipment, and assisting with the weighing and sorting of materials.
Key Responsibilities:
• Safely operate heavy equipment, including forklifts, to move materials around the yard
• Assist with the weighing and sorting of materials, including scrap metal and other recyclables
• Perform general labor duties, such as sweeping, shoveling, and cleaning up the yard
• Inspect incoming scrap and advise customers of accepted and non-accepted materials
• Assist with other duties as assigned by your manager
Requirements:
• 1 year of previous general labor experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, preferably in the scrap metal or construction industries
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop outdoor environment while providing excellent customer service
• Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day
• Ability to adapt to frequent changes of priority and complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Bilingual preferred
