The XPS Foam Automation and Controls Specialist will be instrumental in collaborating with XPS Foam production facilities and various stakeholders within the XPS Foam division.
Key Responsibilities:
The Specialist will oversee the execution of medium to large-scale capital projects for the XPS Foam division, providing essential technical assistance to manufacturing operations, maintenance, and process optimization. The role emphasizes enhancing safety, productivity, and quality while minimizing costs and ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
Responsibilities include:
1. Translating operational needs into engineering calculations, specifications, and design packages.
2. Preparing documentation for equipment procurement and installation contracts.
3. Facilitating system start-up and ongoing support.
4. Analyzing options to maximize returns on capital investments through innovative technology applications.
The Specialist will serve as a Subject Matter Expert on XPS Foam processes, maintain operational control intellectual property for equipment and system design, and support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives. Additionally, the role involves assisting with the maintenance spare parts strategy and defining critical spare parts for key process equipment.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Capital Delivery XPS Foam Engineering Leader.
Work Environment:
This role follows a hybrid work schedule, with travel required based on project demands.
Job Duties:
- Manage electrical project delivery for capital projects, ensuring adherence to design principles and budgetary constraints.
- Supervise contract engineering resources to guarantee proper execution of design and commissioning tasks.
- Strive for zero injuries in capital projects by prioritizing safety in design and commissioning processes.
- Apply sound engineering practices to drive project improvements.
- Lead multiple projects concurrently, coordinating with engineering firms to define scope, estimate costs, and manage electrical resources for commissioning and start-up.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in electrical engineering project execution.
- At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in continuous manufacturing processes.
- Leadership experience in a matrix organizational structure.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comprehensive understanding of applicable electrical codes.
- Proficient in developing project scopes, cost estimates, and evaluating vendor proposals.
- Strong project leadership capabilities and a proven track record of managing projects to completion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess situations and implement effective solutions.
- Familiarity with data collection systems for decision-making and problem-solving.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing workloads and project requirements.
- Solid planning, resource management, and delegation skills.
- Expertise in motor control, programmable controllers, software, instrumentation, and control system networks.
