Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a Radiology Technologist for a job in Harwood Heights, Illinois.

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year

Job Overview
  • This role is responsible for operating radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment to produce high-quality images of patients.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with digital imaging systems and be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain competencies in multiple skill sets, including charge roles, preceptorship, and operation of advanced digital and computed radiographic equipment.
  • Assist Radiologists with fluoroscopic procedures, including preparation of radiographic/fluoroscopic rooms and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Troubleshoot diagnostic/fluoroscopic CR and DR equipment, identify issues, and submit service requests.
  • Operate portable radiographic equipment and fluoroscopic C-arms in the OR and intensive care units (MICU, SICU, PICU).
  • Demonstrate competence in two of the following advanced training procedures: OR19 (Hybrid Room), Stealth Navigation, Dexa-training and certification required, EOS -training and proficiency required, and Pediatric specialized exams such as intussusception and VCUGs.
  • Participate in process or quality improvement projects, including Outpatient Engagement initiatives, Throughput and ED Turnaround Time, High Reliability unit and safety focused initiatives.
  • Operate x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body as specified by a physician.
  • Maneuver portable radiographic equipment in patient care areas and in surgery as required.
  • Perform radiographic procedures on Level I Trauma patients to expedite immediate care of critically ill patients.
  • Determine appropriate exposure factors and positions patient utilizing immobilization devices when appropriate to insure optimum film quality.
  • Verify patient and procedure prior to starting exam, prepare patients for exam, obtain and record history, explain procedure, position patients and ensure their comfort.
  • Adhere to isolation/sterile techniques and radiation safety procedures.
  • Review radiographs to ensure optimum quality, report environmental/equipment problems to appropriate resource personnel, perform required computer function for RIS/HIS systems, and label all radiographs appropriately following department's established criteria and standards.
  • Consistently maintain an attitude of professionalism, cooperation and positive interaction with co-workers, physicians, patients and families.
  • Participate in assessment of own learning needs and actively seek opportunity for professional growth, attend in-services to ensure knowledge of current departmental and technical procedures, attend CPR classes to maintain re-certification, maintain appropriate state license and national board certification.
  • Maintenance of supplies needed to ensure adequate level needed for quality patient care, ensure cleanliness of equipment and work area, maintain inventory of supplies in work area, identify supplies and equipment needs for procedure, restock work area as necessary, use Universal Precautions in daily performance of procedures.
  • Maintains environment that is safe based on age and developmental status, complies with procedural standards in the care of children and adult population, assist with proper positioning and restraining of children and elderly patients as necessary, assist with patient/family participation in post procedural care for all age groups and provides resource information as directed, reinforce appropriate psychosocial interventions based on age and developmental status, reassure children and aging patients, interact with families as so determined by need of case.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology
  • Certificate or Assoc. Degree in Radiology Technology
  • Previous experience 3 years as a radiographer or 1 year experience at ALGH as a radiographer
  • Good communication skills, good understanding of R.I.S., working knowledge of Digital Imaging System, and basic computer skills, good understanding of more advanced radiographic procedures, able to serve as a resource to other associates
  • ARRT Registered or registry eligible IDNS Licensed Current CPR Certification
