Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and respond to incidents: Conduct thorough investigations into incidents and allegations of misconduct, and take appropriate action to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.
  • Provide security and support: Provide security and support to students, staff, and visitors on school campuses, and respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Build relationships and engage with the community: Build positive relationships with students, staff, and the community, and engage in outreach and education efforts to promote safety and security awareness.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and other agencies: Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies and other organizations to share information and best practices, and to ensure a coordinated response to incidents.

Requirements:

  • Education and Training: Graduate of the Marion County Sheriff's Department Special Deputy School or Reserve Academy, and certified as a School Resource Officer as prescribed by the National Association of School Resource Officers.
  • Experience and Skills: Proven experience in law enforcement or a related field, with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
