Position Overview:

As a Line Cook, you will play a vital role in supporting the culinary team with the preparation of various food items, maintaining cleanliness and organization in work areas, and adhering to the standards established by the Head Chef.

This unique position involves working at two distinct venues throughout the year, with responsibilities divided between a summer role and a winter role. During the summer months, you will be stationed at Inn at Bay Harbor, serving as a Line Cook. In the winter months, your full-time role will transition to either The Highlands or Boyne Mountain Resort, where you will assist in various capacities as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare food in accordance with established food handling guidelines and cooking procedures.
  • Measure and mix ingredients following recipes or using records to prepare and prep food items.
  • Ensure adequate levels of food products at line stations to facilitate smooth service periods.
  • Communicate and coordinate production efforts with fellow cooks, wait staff, and food and beverage team members.
  • Develop familiarity with all kitchen equipment and its proper use.
  • Adjust thermostat controls to manage the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and other cooking appliances.
  • Monitor and taste foods during cooking to ensure proper preparation and cooking standards are met.
  • Plate and portion food while maintaining consistency according to presentation specifications.
  • Label, date, and rotate all stored food items appropriately.
  • Execute closing procedures, including equipment maintenance, cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen and storage areas.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred.
  • Availability to work during days, evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
