Bridge Engineer Job Description

RK&K is seeking a skilled Bridge Engineer to join our team in Fairfax or Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of in-service bridges to assess their condition and structural integrity.
  • Design structural components and ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop repair plans and specifications for bridge rehabilitation or replacement projects.
  • Provide designs for transportation structures.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in bridge inspection technologies, methodologies, and industry best practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Registration as an Engineer Intern (EI).
  • Minimum of Two (2) years of experience in structural inspection with a focus on bridges.
  • Valid NBIS Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges certificate.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various work sites within Virginia.
  • Knowledge of National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS), AASHTO guidelines, and relevant federal and state regulations.
  • Knowledge of bridge inspection software and tools for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and familiarity with various bridge types and construction materials.
