Department: Student Services

Position: Speech Therapist (10 month full-time role)

Qualifications:

A. Educational Background:

1. Master's Degree in Education; must possess a Postgraduate Professional License with an Endorsement in Speech Language Pathology (Speech Disorders K-12).

2. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with colleagues and stakeholders.

B. Health Requirements:

1. Must demonstrate overall good health.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director of Pupil Personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engage in child identification initiatives, including 60-day screenings.
  2. Conduct observations and assessments of students referred by the school's child study or IEP committee to ascertain the necessity of services within the educational framework.
  3. Complete evaluations within the mandated timeframe, interpret educational implications of findings, and deliver comprehensive reports to the school child study committee and parents.
  4. Contribute to the formulation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students identified as Speech Language Impaired (SLI), and provide services as outlined in their IEPs.
  5. Participate in essential meetings concerning SLI students (IEP, Eligibility, Triennial, etc.), and report on progress as specified by the student's IEP.
  6. Act as a member of the Child Study Committee when appropriate, manage caseloads in alignment with county protocols, recommend suitable service delivery methods, and adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
  7. Develop Service Plans as necessary, and inform relevant personnel of any modifications or accommodations to IEPs.
  8. Attend mandatory in-service training and professional development sessions, pursue ongoing education, and maintain valid licensure.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
