Job Summary:

As an Interventional Radiology Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in performing routine and highly specialized diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures on patients. You will work under the general supervision of physicians to diagnose and treat pathologies, utilizing established parameters and protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with pre and post-patient assessment, patient teaching, and patient care within the scope of practice.
  • Manage inventory, schedule coordination, and circulate and scrub roles during procedures.
  • Assist physicians with a range of procedures using fluoroscopic imaging that require the use of contrast media.
  • Ensure proper radiation safety measures are followed, adhering to the ALARA principle and departmental Radiation Safety Policies & Procedures.
  • Prepare work schedules to ensure sufficient staff is available for patient appointments.
  • Ensure staff explains Interventional Radiology procedures to patients and obtains consent forms, actively participating in the Universal Protocol for all procedures.
  • Provide training and guidance to ensure equipment is properly and safely operated.
  • Assist staff in confirming images meet radiologist requirements.
  • Check the status of imaging and specialty equipment to ensure proper operating condition.
  • Troubleshoot technical and mechanical problems, performing minor maintenance on equipment and entering service requests for equipment failure.
  • Order equipment, film, and supplies, and manage inventories.
  • Prepare and file patient information files correctly.
  • Review and submit reports showing the number and type of examinations conducted.
  • Perform QC Lead duties as an Interventional Radiology Technologist as required.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, nurses, and physicians, particularly regarding information on angiography procedures requiring specialized patient preparation.
  • Maintain proper documentation for internal and external regulatory compliance.
Requirements:
  • Minimum three (3) years of recent experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital supporting fluoroscopy and c-arm/surgical procedures.
  • Graduate of a certified/accredited ARRT program required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Cardiac Interventional Radiography within 24 months of hire OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Vascular Interventional Radiography within 24 months of hire OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography within 24 months of hire.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Basic Life Support.
