POSITION OVERVIEW: This role involves operating a forklift to transport extruded aluminum within the facility, cutting logs into billets that supply the extrusion machinery, and applying knowledge of metal properties under heat in aging ovens to comply with industry standards. The individual will read and interpret blueprints for metal arrangements. Tasks must be completed accurately, adhering to specifications and timelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are essential to this position. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

  1. Ensure the efficient and productive operation of the CASTHOUSE/AGE/TRANSFER.
  2. Oversee the quality and quantity of materials placed in the aging ovens.
  3. Monitor and manage the aging ovens effectively.
  4. Operate the billet saw.
  5. Utilize the forklift for material handling.
  6. Become proficient in using the Epics System on the computer.
  7. Conduct quality inspections using measuring tools such as tape measures and Websters.
  8. Identify defective materials visually.
  9. Maintain a steady flow of materials.
  10. Perform maintenance tasks as required.
  11. Ensure cleanliness in the casthouse and aging ovens area.

QUALIFICATIONS: To excel in this role, candidates must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or GED is required. Basic computer skills are necessary, and forklift experience is preferred. Candidates should be able to lift 50 pounds, perform repetitive tasks, and stand for extended periods. Proficiency in converting fractions to decimals and using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, tape measures, protractors, and squares is essential.


MATH SKILLS: The ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in various units of measure, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Candidates should be able to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY: Candidates must apply common sense to follow detailed written or oral instructions and address problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position may indirectly supervise managers throughout the facility. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving issues.
